Ah, Autumn

There’s just something about the changing of the seasons that always leaves me nostalgic. Albeit it is still pretty hot outside and it’s not officially fall until next week, I can’t help but think of the cooling of the air, the dying of the leaves/mosquitoes, and the wearing of flannel shirts and ripped jeans and [...]

Jonathan Davis (Korn) covers Lil Wayne

Yep. Somebody must be giving out free auto-tuners or something and apparently Jonathan Davis, lead singer of Korn, just got his hands on one. What happens when you get your hands on one? You use it immediately. Lil Wayne got it from T Pain, then Kanye… now Korn? Anyway, the following is his take on [...]

Craig Finn talks music/baseball on ESPN

Last week, Craig Finn, lead singer and songwriter for the world’s most famousest bar band evrrr, The Hold Steady, joined ESPN’s The Show to answer questions for an hour or so. Craig Finn and ESPN? Interesting right? Well Finn’s a huge fan of baseball – the Minnesota Twins to be specific. He’s even done a [...]

New Music: Kanye West – Love Lockdown

You heard it close out the mediocre 2008 VMAs. Now the auto-tone drenched new tune from Mr. West has a studio version out for your enjoyment. The only problem is sounds more like a live recording – or at least something recorded in one take. Listen to the chorus. He runs out of breath at [...]

A little reminder…

Today is September 11th, 2008. As a little reminder of the tragedies that befell our country seven years ago (in 2001), this is a video of Ray Charles performing America The Beautiful. Out of anyone’s performance of this tribute to America, Ray’s is the definitive. Posted by Joe.

You can see Death Cab for Cutie too!

Here’s the scoop: The students who register the most voters for the 2008 election win scholarships, as well as a chance [...]

Mountain Dew’s got a free tune from The Cool Kids

Green Label Sound (GLS) is Mountain Dew’s newest endeavor. According to the soft drink provider, Green Label Sound features “THE NEWEST BUZZ-WORTHY MUSICIANS WHO REPRESENT THE TRUE SPIRIT OF DEW.” I’m not exactly sure what that consists of, but I assume it falls somewhere between Brooklyn indie-dance music and Chicago skate-hop… but that would put [...]

LTJ GNV FLA

June 24, 2008 – Gainesville, FL ska-punk pioneers Less Than Jake released its 8th full-length album (by my count) GNV FLA on their very own brand new indie label Sleep It Off.

2008 MTV VMAs Recap

I can’t pinpoint the exact moment when the VMAs lost their luster. I’m not sure if it came with my age or with MTV’s slow fall away from music. Anyway, the VMAs were last night, live from Hollywood, and I figured a quick recap would be proper.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Sands!

Phish is back and rocking New York City. Last night, they made a surprise debut at the wedding of their old road manager, Brad Sands.
