Vote For A Free Weezer Concert

What would you say to a free Weezer concert on campus and a monetary donation to the University? Seem too good to be true? Well it’s not, we just need your help!

T-Mobile has teamed up with the alternative rock band to create the “Motorola CLIQ Challenge,” promoting both T-Mobile’s newest phone, as well as the band’s seventh studio album, Raditute, which was released November 3rd. The winner of this competition, open to over 1,800 universities and colleges across the country, will receive a free show by the band, as well as a one-dollar donation for each vote the school receives (limited to a $25,000 reward)

Currently, the University of Maryland is in eleventh place with 3,264 votes, 5,742 behind the leader, Florida State University.

So how does one vote? It’s wasy, just log on to Facebook and add the “CLIQ Challenge” app. From there, all you have to do is enter our school’s name, and choose your relationship to the school from the dropdown menu. After clicking the ‘Submit My Vote’ button, you’re done. It’s that simple.

The contest ends November 30th, so if you’re interested in a free Weezer concert on campus, or just want to see the school get a generous donation from T-Mobile, get online and vote! It only takes about thirty seconds and we need votes from everyone on campus, so tell your friends!

As a parting note, I must offer a retraction to all of my readers. In my last entry, I promised a review of the Armin Van Buuren show at Fur Nightclub last month. Due to a sudden illness, we never made it to Fur, much to my chagrin. I apologize for the disappointment.

  1. I would (and did) ask, why??

It would be some kind of cruel joke if we ended up winning a contest to bring Weezer to UMD. Their heyday is long gone, my friend; Raditude is absurd.

But in all seriousness I admire your promotion of UMaryland music activism

  2. I totally agree, Weezer is far past their prime, as they have continued to disappoint since they released Make Believe. However, a free concert is a free concert, and they are bound to play some of their old hit, so why not advocate this contest that could monetarily benefit UMD
