Oi! Finally!

So it took some work, but I finally caught wind of an up-and-coming band from Melbourne. In the electronica vain, as most of this country’s decent stuff is, the Midnight Juggernauts turn fantasy tales into dance parties. Check out this number from their 2007 debut, Dystopia, called “Into the Galaxy.”

Cover of the Week (Random)

Ok so I know it’s not our usual day for Cover of the Week and it’s not an Australian band,  but I’m a little thrown off of everything over here and this song has been stuck in my head. Also, it has two really good artists in one song. This is Lykke Li’s take on [...]

G’Day Mate!

Greetings from Down Under. Across the sea in Melbourne it will be hard to stay on top of my TerrapinSound game, but I figure I’d throw you guys some Australian music from time to time. To start we’ll go with a band from Sydney that is already making a splash in the United States: The [...]

Concert Review: The Flying Eyes

McCartney’s umpteenth record and third cut with Youth under the pseudonym The Fireman, Electric Arguments demonstrates why we all should pay attention to arguably the greatest pop songwriter.

Coldplay Rips Vida La Vida?

So I recently came across this article on ultimate-guitar.com, and when I heard it I pretty much could only laugh. Guitar wiz Joe Satriani claims Coldplay took the melody and chord progression of his song “If I Could Fly,” and simply dumped the guitar. After hearing the two songs together, I personally think he has [...]

Friday Fuel 07: Chromeo – Fancy Footwork

I think this might be my favorite song of 2008. I don’t know why but everywhere I go this song is stuck in my head. Maybe cause it’s amazing, who knows. Anyway, this is Fancy Footwork from Chromeo’s latest album of the same name. I’ll be impressed if you haven’t started dancing by the end [...]

Album Review: Kings of Leon – Only By the Night

Only By the Night, Kings of Leon’s fourth album, presents a new, more mainstream direction of the band. It is yet to be seen whether this will take away from their creativity or not.
