This song was originally done by Neil Diamond back in 1968 and then covered by UB40 in 1983. The song is about drinking red wine as a way to forget about a past lover. It became a #1 single for the British reggae band from Birmingham, UK. Enjoy…and if you feel like getting in the mood, pour yourself a glass of some sweet red wine.

Yes. Maroon 5 singing Alicia Keys’ hit track. I actually got to see M5 perform this a couple weeks ago and I fell in love with the way Adam Levine’s voice complements the song. Sorry about the overwhelming screaming in the background, this is the best video I could find on Youtube.

However, within days the festival announced a more than suitable replacement: Jay-Z. To pay tribute to the hip-hop greats whose absence brought him to Liberty State Park, the set’s opening song was a cover of Beastie Boys’ anthem, “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”.

Ask me for it.) However, Hoodlums‘ version of the song is absolutely brilliant. They bring their indie style to this song, and it makes it 400 times better. Give it a listen.

I usually cannot stand Lady Gaga‘s “Poker Face”, but I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this version of it :) Chris Daughtry, frontman of the band Daughtry (obviously), performed the song for the German radio station Citrus 95.3. Most of the music I like does not include mainstream, but I think Daughtry possesses a lot of talent.

This Jackson 5 cover is from the group Discovery which consists of Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend and Wes Miles from Ra Ra Riot. The two friends began recording together back in 2005 and released their debut album titled LP earlier this year. They mix electronic with some indie rock and a little funk. I definitely recommend checking out their album.

What should happen is a “Best Cover Band That Ever Existed” award that should go to Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. In the unfortunate event that you have not yet heard of them, they are essentially a bunch of assholes that take pop songs from the past 50 years or so and make them into pop-punk songs. A brilliant idea. This was recorded in the 90′s as a b-side to their first full length album, Have A Ball, and was then released on Punk-O-Rama, Vol. 2, and again in 2008 on the album Have Another Ball, which is just b-sides from their first release. What a rich history. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are also essentially a Fat Wreck Chords all-star lineup (the guy from the Foo Fighters used to be in the band No Use For A Name):
